Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a system of yoga transmitted to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915 - 2009). This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures. During the practice intense internal heat is produced and a profuse, purifying sweat detoxifies muscles and organs. The result of regular practice is a light and strong body and a calm mind. At Akasha you can visit either the course of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, where you can learn the First Series The course is aimed at those wanting to learn the basics of Ashtanga and the First Series, so that they can practice on their own. The courses are closed, taught in Czech and if you want to be informed about the next course, send us email to info (at) akasha.cz.

The open classes are inspired by Ashtanga but are also influenced by other yoga styles and also contain preparatory positions. You can visit the open classes anytime, you don't have to register beforehand, just introduce yourself at the beginning of the class. The teachers can accomodate to English speakers and will make sure you understand the instructions.

The mysore classes are the traditional way of learning Ashtanga. The teacher is present to assist you, give you new postures, when appropriate, but you practice by your own, in your own rythm. The prerequisite for attending the Mysore style class is to know at least part of the Primary series by memory. The Mysore classes are great way to develop regular personal practice. We recommend to make a commitment of practicing three times a week, you don't have to do the whole series every time, the importance is to develop regularity.
