Yoga Sutras - A. G. & Indra Mohan 7. 11. - 5. 12. 2010
Intoductory course of Patanjali Yogasutras
More people then ever are practicing yoga today for various reasons, but how many people truly understand one of the main yoga texts - the Yogasutras of Patanjali? Patanjali Yogasutras explain the foundations of yoga practice and their understanding gives a basis
to effective yoga practice.
Join us in interactive study of the Yogasturas with respected teachers A. G. Mohan and Indra Mohan. The teachers have developed a series of programs guiding teachers and students toward health and personal transformation as directed in Yoga Sutras. Mohans have dedicated their lives to the study,
practice and teaching of yoga. A. G. Mohan began his studies with “the father of modern yoga” Sri. T. Krishnamacharya and he studied with the renowned master for the last 18 years of Krishnamacharya’s life.
A. G. Mohan is also author of the recently published book Krishnamacharya: HIs life and teachings, Shambhala Press, 2010 (also sold at Akasha Yoga Studio).
Indra Mohan also studied with Krishnamacharya and recieved a postgraduated diploma in Yoga from him, a singular honor. Likewise, she has undertaken deep study of the ancient teachings of yoga.
The study consists of four sessions
(three broadcasted + one life session). Lucie Königová, a student of the
Mohans will be present to facilitate each session and answer your questions.
First three sessions each consist of:
- Vedic peace invocations
- An hour-long videotaped presentation by the Mohans
- A brief asana and pranayama practice
- Group discussion
Last session will be a wrap-up session with Lucie - you will have a chance to ask questions about the previous sessions and the Yoga Sutras.
Some of the topics covered:
- “I want to live happily always.” This is the wish of all humans. Is this possible to attain? If so, what conditions are required to attain it? If not, why not?
- “Why study the Yoga Sutras?” Study of the Yoga Sutras helps us understand who we are, what we are, and how we are to relate to the external world. What thoughts and actions lead to bondage?
- “ What do the Yoga Sutras tell us?” Why is it sometimes difficult to put the wisdom of the Yoga Sutras into practice? What can we do to overcome this difficulty?
