About the teacher:

Shiva Shankar was born into the Brahmin family in Indian Orrisa. He studied the art of yoga with many Indian Sadhus. As a child Shiva spent many hours reciting mantras and classical yogic scriptures. At the age of fifteen he started studying vedas at the university which was established by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Shiva was led to live ascetic ashram life, where he also led pujas and vedic rituals. After finishing his studies, he spent a lot of time at the Iyengar Institute in Puna, Bihar Schol of Yoga, at the Yogananda Satsang Society and other yogic institutions.
