New evening class and workshop by James Boag

2010-05-31 21:41

Starting this week, each Wednesday 5:30 - 7:00 pm there will be new evening class led by James Boag in English. To see the full schedule go here. We would also like to invite you for special Virabhadrasana - way of the yogic warrior workshop, led by James this Sunday June 6th. In this workshop we will explore what does it mean to be a yogic warrior both on and off the mat.

Details of the workshop:

We know the Warrior - Virabhadrasana posture from the sun salutations and also as a powerfull standing posture done in most of the yoga classes. The rich symbol of the warrior, or a hero on a quest, is used by spiritual traditions from around the world to represent the path of the seeker after truth. But what does it mean to be a yogic warrior? And what does that have to do with our lives in the twenty-first century?

In this focus class, James Boag will lead us to explore the theme of the warrior both on the yoga mat and in our life. With reference to Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and key verses from the Bhagavad Gita, this class will examine these questions before exploring them experientially through a balanced and focused asana practice sequence. This will include particular consideration and application of the symbolism of the Virabhadrasana (warrior pose) and related postures as energetic embodiments of the expanded, yet centred awareness that the yogic warrior cultivates.
